Statement of Candidacy
I am excited to accept the nomination for candidacy for the position of Vice President for Conferences– Elect. I truly appreciate the confidence and trust that others have in me. Shortly after joining the financial aid profession, I was sent through the Chenelle Leadership Program. I enjoyed the program so much that it became my personal goal to oversee a future class. I knew I needed to become involved in the organization as soon as possible. This pursuit led me to several Conference Program committees and eventually being asked to serve as a Co-Chair for New Member and Recruitment. That position led me to run for elected positions and eventually landed me a seat as Co-Chair of the Chenelle Leadership class, for two separate classes. That was, to this day, the greatest experience I have had in the financial aid profession. What a joy to learn from so many talented and dedicated financial aid professionals, and to encourage and inspire them to learn and grow through OASFAA. My experiences on the OASFAA board have taught me much, not only about our organization, including the structure, philosophies behind our actions, and the importance that the Executive Board holds with our membership, but also about the people who are often behind the scenes, working tirelessly for students, faculty, institutions, and each other. After having some time away from the organization to pursue other leadership opportunities (WILD and a Sinclair Leadership program – Momentum), I am ready to rejoin the Executive Board with fresh ideas, perspective, experiences, and support. I welcome the opportunity to give back to those who have given much to me. I look forward to the prospect of ensuring that new and returning OASFAA members have the best experience possible at each conference we hold, as I know firsthand the impact it can have on one’s development both in the profession and within the OASFAA organization.I look forward to continuing to represent the financial aid profession, as well as my colleagues, in this new position.  Thank you, again, for your nomination and consideration.

Statement of Candidacy
Mahatma Gandhi once said “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”.  I laugh a bit, as I didn’t know Gandhi was a financial aid professional and OASFAA member.  The profession, and being an OASFAA member, is all about losing yourself in the service of others.  Service is rarely easy, as I think we can all agree that being nominated often comes with mixed feelings: extra work, deadlines, and responsibilities.  Yet, who among us has said serving OASFAA hasn’t been worth the extra effort, or can’t remember that time at a committee or executive meeting, conference, or transition, that lifetime friendships and/or memories were forged?  A price is paid for certain, but the rewards are immeasurable.  I for one am honored to again be nominated for Associate Membership Representative and, if fortunate enough to serve in the role, look forward to losing myself in the service of OASFAA yet again.
