Welcome to OASFAA

Faith PhillipsWelcome to the new and improved OASFAA website!  I trust that you will be able to easily find your way around our newly redesigned site and that you will be able to find all of the great resources available for you.

I am grateful to have the chance to serve as the OASFAA President for the 2017-18 year and help lead an active, passionate group of professionals committed to serving students. I believe the year ahead will be full of opportunities to learn from and support one another. I also anticipate we will need to step up our advocacy efforts and look for effective ways to have our voices be heard on behalf of our students.

I would like to take a moment to encourage each of you to meet new people within OASFAA and throughout our profession. The work we do in our industry is not easy and often times, the people we know and the support we receive from one another will make all of the difference. So encourage your colleagues to join OASFAA or seek new connections within the association. A great way to do that is to volunteer to serve on a committee. Even if you have volunteered in the past, your skills are needed!! Find an area to plug in. Your level of involvement is completely up to you but I promise you will not regret the decision to serve your colleagues, the association and our students in new and exciting ways.

Over the course of the next year, we will be hosting the 2017 MASFAA conference to be held in Dayton from October 8th to11th. Not only will this conference provide useful and relevant training, it will provide the opportunity to meet colleagues from around the Midwest. Your network will grow significantly if you take advantage of the time to meet even more financial aid friends. We will hold frequent NASFAA credential training sessions as well as lively region meetings. OASFAA will again have a spring conference and will be working diligently to put together a meaningful 50th anniversary celebration in the fall of 2018.

As our industry continues to evolve and training takes on new forms, I am committed to working to provide you with the support you need to do your job well.  In addition, I have charged the Executive Committee with ensuring we remain fiscally sound long into the future and that we remain good stewards of the membership dollars. We do not take that responsibility lightly.

I thank you for the opportunity to serve as the OASFAA President and am grateful to stand alongside so many leaders in our industry. I have so much to learn from each of you and remain committed to working with the Executive Committee to making this a great year. Do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the Executive Committee or me if we can serve you or your school in any way.

Susan Kannenwischer
2017-18 OASFAA President
